AC Shadows Introduces Surprising Attack on Titan Collaboration for Thanksgiving
In a bizarre collaboration that breaks usual expectations, Ubisoft has unveiled an digital partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Adventure Revealed
According to the formal announcement, "A strange meeting leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where rumors of forbidden ceremonies and monstrous transformations resonate through the shadows." The plot features a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who charges the characters with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her friend from a secret sect.
The questline centers on "bizarre tests and a monstrous adversary" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Settings and Changes
The trailer features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser ends with a striking sequence showing a character, presumably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Rewards and Extra Content
Players who finish the adventure will acquire an exclusive katana in addition to multiple objects hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains premium Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-based costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Exclusive implements
- Survey Corps vehicle
Latest Free Story Addition
This update also introduces the game's third free story content, titled "The Mystery." This humorous mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature abilities: Naoe debuts a dramatic variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a original environmental puzzle that may finally explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
Previous Japanese Animation Collaborations
This represents scarcely the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with famous anime series. The series earlier included a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla subtly featured a quest that clearly echoed the popular series One-Punch Man.
